Travel through the rolling hills of the Strzelecki Ranges on Heritage rolling stock. We regularly run Victorian 1928 Diesel Electric Rail Motors, 1955 South Australian Red Hen rail Motors and Victorian 1950's Y class locomotive hauling passenger cars constructed in 1910 and 1926. Take a tour through the 1908 built heritage listed Korumburra Station. Enjoy a cuppa in the refreshment room on train running days. A train trip to Loch to visit a cafe or antique shop is a nice way to spend a Sunday. Charter trains for groups, parties, weddings, workplace functions and tour groups are also available. South Gippsland Tourist Railway is the home of the Dream Come True Program where you get to drive the train. Let your children or grandchildren experience what train travel used to be like. Opening windows, the clickety clack of the rails, the gentle rocking motion and on the rail motors a view out the front or the rear of the train is a novelty for children. There is wildlife such as wallabies, kangaroos, echidnas and wombats at various places along the line. The train goes along at a leisurely pace allowing you to enjoy the scenery, look at the farming activities and arrive relaxed at the towns of Nyora, Loch, Korumburra and Leongatha. The South Gippsland Railway operates between Nyora and Leongatha over a 36 kilometre section of the former Great Southern Railway which once stretched almost 250 kilometres from Melbourne through Korumburra, Leongatha, Foster and Yarram to Woodside.
